Abstract

This study identifies the key challenges faced in implementing AI-based systems in the library context, using the National Institute of Social Development (NISD) Library in Sri Lanka as a case study. The research highlights technical, organizational, human resource, and ethical barriers to AI adoption in academic libraries in developing countries. Through qualitative methods including interviews with library staff and administrators, the study reveals significant obstacles such as inadequate infrastructure, lack of skilled personnel, data privacy concerns, and financial constraints. The findings provide valuable insights for library professionals and policymakers aiming to integrate AI technologies in similar contexts.
